After the prolonged positional battles in the Kharkiv region, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a counter-offensive. Russian units are repelling the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the villages that Russians left weeks ago. The villages of Tokarevka and Tsupovka are again under Russian control. The AFU were forced to step back towards the Dergachi-Tsirkuny line.
The front lines remain unchanged in the Izyum region. Clashes continue near the villages of Velikaya Kamishevakha, Kurulki and Dolgenkoe.
Russian troops approached the outskirts of the city of Svyatogorsk. The joint forces broke through the AFU defenses in the town of Yarovaya taking control over the road leading to Svyatogorsk. At the same time the shelling from the Russian positions in Paseka increased, while massive artillery attacks were carried out on the AFU positions in Bogorodichy.
The AFU are equipping their artillery positions in the city, including in the Svyatogorsk monastery, sacred place located on the opposite bank of the river.
After the town of Krasny Liman came under control of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian offensive continued in the eastern direction. Russian units approached the town of Rayhorodok and are shelling the Ukrainian military positions across the Seversky Donets River.
In the Luhansk People’s Republic, fierce clashes continue on the streets in the city of Severodonetsk. Russian and LPR units are advancing from the northern, north-eastern and south-eastern direction. They have already repelled the AFU from almost all the residential areas, including in the center of the city. Clashes continue in the industrial area.
Ukrainian units are retreating to the city of Lisichansk and reinforce their positions in a new fortress of the Ukrainian resistance, in the Azot chemical plant. On May 31, the retreating AFU units blew up a container presumably with nitrogen at the Azot chemical plant, blaming Russian force’s airstrike.
Russian-led forces are yet to encircle the AFU units deployed in Zolotoe. Ukrainian forces are still fighting for control over the village of Vrubovka and the road from Zolotoe to Lisichansk. Fierce clashes continue in Ustinovka and near Toshkovka.
Near the city of Donetsk, clashes continue in the Avdeevka area without any significant changes on the battlefield. Russian and DPR troops are yet to encircle the town, slowly advancing from the village of Novoselovka Vtoraya. The AFU units receive military supplies from the western direction.
The Ukrainian servicemen deployed in Avdeevka continue massive shelling on civilians in the city of Donetsk. On May 31, the attacks resulted in a death of a 5 years old girl in Makeevka.
