The Krasny Liman direction remains one of the most challenging sectors of the front for Ukrainian forces as Russian troops continue their offensive, steadily expanding their zone of control. Ukrainian attempts to establish a stable defense are faltering due to a critical shortage of manpower, leading to further territorial losses.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on May 7, units of the West troop grouping have liberated the village of Lipovoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Lipovoye is located near the village of Novoye. Russian victory allowed to cut the large road used for Ukrainian military communications of a wide front.
Military reporters indicate that Russian forces have defeated units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade in this area. The advance in this direction began after Russian troops captured the village of Katerinovka, simultaneously launching attacks toward Novomikhailovka to the north. Following intense combat, Russian forces secured Novoye and subsequently Lipovoye. From Lipovoye, the Russian military may now push toward Zelenaya Dolina.
The Ukrainian side acknowledges the dire situation in the Krasny Liman direction. Russian forces are attempting to split Ukrainian defensive lines into two isolated segments—the Lyman and Borovaya groupings—potentially encircling them. The Ukrainian command has urgently requested reinforcements, but the General Staff can only provide recently mobilized personnel lacking combat experience. While a full-front breakthrough has not yet occurred, position of the Ukrainian military is deteriorating.
