The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue advancing and expanded their zone of control in the city of Chasov Yar inflamed by prolonged urban battles. In recent days, Ukrainian defense has been destroyed in several areas.
As a result of heavy battles in the forest area on the northwestern outskirts of the city, Russian forces entered the Northern district and gained a foothold on the streets. There are mainly small private houses but the Ukrainian military is expected to hold defense in the area of the local railway station.
Russian advance is threatening Ukrainian garrison that is trying to resist on the territory of the refractory plant. Heavy battles are ongoing in the industrial facilities and Russian advance was also reported there. According to preliminary reports, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are already in control of about a third part of the plant.
Russian forces also advanced on a wide front in the forest area east of the city center, securing the left flank of Russian soldiers, who are storming the city center.

In an attempt to hold control of the center of Chasov Yar and avoid the encirclement of the refractory plant, the Ukrainian military command is throwing units of foreign mercenaries, including fighters from EU countries, to pug holes in the Ukrainian defense. Most likely, the Ukrainian military intends to hold control of the center of Chasov Yar for as long as possible and regardless of losses, as it was the case in Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
The ongoing Russian advance in different directions in and around the city suggest the Ukrainian military lost the integrity of its defense on the northern flank, which may lead to its collapse.
