On August 6, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation raised the flag in New York. It was installed by servicemen of the 9th Brigade on the roof of the NEW York Special School No. 38. on Guzhva Lane. The footage from the area was shared online by Russian military sources.
As a result of the recent attacks, Russian forces crossed the New York street and entered the northwestern part of the town.
The rapid Russian offensive on the streets of New York threaten the remaining forces of the Ukrainian garrison in the town as well as those left in the areas east of the settlement.
On the same day, both Russian and Ukrainian military sources reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine abandoned their military positions in the vast areas southeast of New York in order to avoid their encirclement.
As a result, Ukrainian servicemen took defense in the residential areas and they hope that the rivers and lakes in the eastern part of New York could slow down Russian offensive.
The Russian military is yet to take full control of the town but the pace of Russian advance means the destruction of Ukrainian defense in the settlement and around it. Ukrainian military sources acknowledge Russian victories and suppose that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be withdrawn from New York in the nearest future. New York will become Novgorodskoe.
