The Russian army continues advance in different directions on Ukrainian frontlines. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirms control of new settlements almost daily. Even though, the Defense Ministry officially confirms the full control of settlements after the mop up operations are completed, Ukrainian counterattacks are repelled and Russian strongholds are secured.
On October 8, the Russian ministry of Defense confirmed that two villages came under control of the Russian military in the Kurakhovo and Ugledar directions.
According to the official report by the Russian military, the assault groups of the Russian Southern group of forces advanced from the recently liberated village of Zhelannoe Vtoroe and took control of the village of Zoryanoe Pervoe (Zoryanoe 1st). This is the small settlement located on the northeastern outskirts of Zoryanoe. Its former Ukrainian name was Sophievka.

Russian forces are rapidly developing their offensive in the Kurakhovo direction, grinding the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Nevelskoe cauldron and surrounding the Gornyak-Kurakhovka urban area. LINK
The second village that came under the full control of the Russian army is Zolotaya Niva located west of Ugledar and Prechistovka. Russian Marines launched assault on the settlement the day before and the first reports from the battlefield confirmed Russian control on October 7. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are fleeing from one stronghold to another, unwilling to fight.
The pace of Russian advance in the Donbass leaves the Ukrainian military no time to build their defense to fight for each town or village. the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forced to retreat on large distances to the west, where they are urgently turning last large towns under their control into fortresses, while the exhausted units abandoned on the battlefields are forced to fight in cauldrons, thrown as cannon fodder to slow down Russian offensive.
