The Russian military has repelled yet another wave of attacks by Kiev forces, according to the September 13 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled eight attacks by Ukraine’s 80th airborne assault, 3rd assault, 59th motorized infantry and 110th mechanized brigades close to Kleshcheevka, Andreevka, Pervomaiskoye and Krasnogorovka.
The ministry said that Kiev forces lost 140 troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles and one Msta-B towed howitzer in this direction.
Moreover, one ammunition depot of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade was targeted and destroyed close to Novomikhailovka.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces repelled two attacks by the 38th and 36th brigades of Kiev forces close to Novomayorskoye and Priyutnoye.
At least 235 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded during the fighting in this direction, the ministry said, adding that two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles and one electronic warfare station were destroyed.
And in the Zaporozhye direction, two attacks by Ukraine’s 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade were repelled close to Verbovoye. In addition, gatherings of the 47th mechanized, 48th airmobile and 82nd airborne assault brigades were targeted near Rabotino.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 205 troops, one tank, three armored fighting vehicles and two motor vehicles.
American-made M777 and M119 towed howitzers, four D-30 towed howitzers, one D-20 towed howitzer, and one Msta-B towed howitzer were also destroyed by counter-battery fire.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled two attacks by the 21st Mechanised Brigade and the 12th Azov Special Operations Brigade to the east of Yampolovka and Chervonaya Dibrova. Up to 65 Ukrainian troops and two armored fighting vehicles were neutralized during the fighting.
Meanwhile in the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces targeted several Ukrainian gatherings of manpower and equipment close to Novosyolovskoye, Olshana and Kotlyarovka.
Kiev forces lost 85 troops, two armored personnel carriers and two motor vehicles in this direction, according to the ministry.
In addition, one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, one M777 towed and one American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer were destroyed in counter-battery fire.
An ammunition depot of the 114th Brigade of the Territorial Defense of Ukraine was also targeted and destroyed close to Glubokoye.
In the Kherson direction, a series of artillery strikes targeted gatherings of the 124th Territorial Defence Brigade near Alekseevsky Island. As a result of the strikes, over 80 Ukrainian troops, two motor vehicles and one M777 towed howitzer were neutralized.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details during its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized Ukrainian P-18 and ST-68 radar stations for the detection and tracking of air targets near Lukashevo (Zaporozhye region) and Krutoyarovka (Dnepropetrovsk region), as well as enemy manpower and military hardware in 129 areas.
Air defense systems have shot down 5 projectiles launched by HIMARS systems.
In addition, 37 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed and suppressed by electronic warfare stations close to Blagodatnoye, Zaitsevo (Donetsk People’s Republic), Verkhnekamenka, Novovodyanoye (Lugansk People’s Republic), Kardashinka, Sagi (Kherson region), Novogorovka and Tarasovka (Zaporozhye region).
In total, 467 airplanes, 248 helicopters, 6,706 unmanned aerial vehicles, 437 air defense missile systems, 11,811 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,150 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,359 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,958 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources released videos showing recent failed Ukrainian attacks near Rabotino, Verbovoye and Klesheevka as well as three airstrikes that hit targets in Kherson, Malynivka and Marinka, including a P-18 surveillance radar station.
It’s worth noting that Ukraine attacked port infrastructure in the Crimean city of Sevastopol, which hosts Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, with cruise missiles and naval suicide drones in the early morning. Seven out of ten missiles were intercepted by Russian air defenses and all drones were destroyed by the navy. Two vessels of the navy were damaged and 24 people were wounded in the attack. The ministry said that both vessels will be repaired.
Ukraine’s counteroffensive began well over three months ago. So far, Kiev forces have made very little gains and sustained heavy losses. Despite this, the counteroffensive is expected to continue until winter.
