The Russian military repelled a new wave of Ukrainian attacks in Zaporozhye and several other directions, according to the September 2 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry said that four attacks by Ukraine’s 47th, 65th mechanized brigades, the 46th Aeromobile Brigade, the 82nd Air Assault Brigade and the 15th National Guard Brigade were repelled close to Rabotino and Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye direction.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 115 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles as well as five towed howitzer, one American-made M777, one American-made M119, one Msta-B howitzer and one D-30.
In addition, an American-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar was targeted and destroyed in the outskirts of Charivnoye.
Meanwhile in the South Donetsk direction, the aviation and artillery of the Russian Vostok Group of Forces targeted the 72nd Mechanised Brigade of Kiev forces near Ugledarn. The group also destroyed an ammunition depot of the 117th Mechanised Brigade near Kamyshevakha.
The ministry said that 105 Ukrainian troops, four tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, two Akatsiya and Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers as well as two D-20 howitzer and D-30 towed howitzer were neutralized in this direction.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces improved its positions along the frontline close to Klescheyevka.
The group also repelled five attacks by Ukraine’s 129th and 241st territorial defense brigades near Artyomovsk, known as Bakhmut, as well as three attacks by the 109th Territorial Defence Brigade and the 79th Air Assault Brigade close to Maryinka.
Kiev forces lost 250 troops, one tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, four armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one Strela-10 short-range air defense system, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer as well as four towed howitzers, two D-20, one D-30 and one American-made M119, during the fighting in this direction.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces launched attacks against the 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade’s units near Kislovka.
The ministry said that up to 40 Ukrainian troops, three armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one American-made M777 towed howitzer and one D-20 towed howitzer were neutralized in the group’s attacks.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled two attacks by Ukraine’s 5th National Guard Brigade and the 67th Mechanised Brigade close to Chervonaya Dibrova. The group also targeted the 63rd and 67th mechanized brigades near Torskoye and Kuzmino.
More than 60 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded during the fighting, the ministry said, adding that two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks and two D-30 towed howitzers were destroyed. .
And in the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 30 troops, two motor vehicles and one D-30 towed howitzer to Russian military fire.
In addition, a field ammunition depot of Ukraine’s 106th Territorial Defence Brigade near Tyaginka and a drone control center close to Otradokamenka were targeted and destroyed.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details in its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized manpower and military hardware in 108 areas.
Two command and observation posts of the 28th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU have been destroyed near Dyleevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
One communications center of the AFU 110th Mechanised Brigade has been destroyed near Avdeyevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense systems intercepted two U.S.manufactured HIMARS rocket-propelled projectiles and one HARM anti-radar missile.
Over the past 24 hours, 25 AFU unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down near Trudovskoye, Kodema, Klinovoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Pshenichnoye, Ocheretovatoye and Tarasovka (Zaporozhye region), as well as Tavolzhanka (Kharkov region)
In total, 466 airplanes, 247 helicopters, 6,318 unmanned aerial vehicles, 435 air defense missile systems, 11,607 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,147 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,182 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,620 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared video footage showing a failed Ukrainian attack and Russian artillery strikes near Avdiivka in the South Donetsk direction, destroyed German-made Leopard 2 tank and French-made CAESAR self-propelled howitzer in the Zaporozhye direction and the aftermath of a failed attack by Kiev forces near Bakhmut in the Donetsk direction.
It’s worth noting that the Russian military destroyed three unnamed semi-submersible suicide boats that attempted to attack the Crimean bridge over the night of September 1 and 2. Four suicide drones were also shot down over the Belgorod region during the same period.
Despite sustaining heavy human and material losses, Kiev forces made no meaningful gains in any direction during the twelfth week of their counteroffensive.
