The Sever Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on several Ukrainian formations in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 31.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that the 22nd, 41st, 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, as well as the 103rd, 112th, and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses near the settlements of Daryino, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.
It added that the Sever Group of Forces repelled four counter-attacks by Kiev forces close to the settlements of Daryino, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.
“The AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to up to 30 troops killed and wounded, two armored fighting vehicles, and two motor vehicles,” the ministry continued.
In addition, the ministry said that another Ukrainian attempt to break through the Russian border near the settlement of Novy Put was thwarted. Up to ten Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded, it added.
Russian air and artillery strikes also hit gatherings of the 21st, 41st, 47th, 61st mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 1st Special Operations Brigade, 17th National Guard Brigade, as well as 103rd, 112th, and 129th territorial defense brigades, according to the ministry.
The gatherings were targeted close to the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Guyevo, Daryino, Kolmakov, Kruglenkoye, Leonidovo, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Mikhaylovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Sudzha, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.
The ministry said that other strikes hit the Ukrainian region of Sumy, targeting the reserves of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 61st, 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade, and 129th Territorial Defence Brigade near the settlements of Basovka, Zhuravka, Loknya, Miropolye, Obody, Pavlovka, and Khoten.
”Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 300 troops, four armored fighting vehicles, eight artillery guns, four mortars, one Israeli-made RADA radar station, and nine motor vehicles,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Separately, Russian media shared videos showing several drone strikes that targeted Kiev forces in the direction of Kursk in recent days.
Backed by foreign mercenaries, Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack. So far, nearly half of the settlements initially occupied by Ukrainian troops have been liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 28,600 troops, 180 tanks, 101 infantry fighting vehicles, 106 armored personnel carriers, 1,059 armored fighting vehicles, 768 motor vehicles, 248 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, nine air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 58 electronic warfare stations, 12 counter-battery radars, three aerial radars, 25 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, five armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
