The Russian Foreign Ministry officially condemned the US strike on Iraq’s Baghdad that killed Major General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units.
“We consider the killing of Suleymani as a result of an American missile strike in the vicinity of Baghdad as an adventurous step that will lead to increased tensions throughout the region. Suleymani devotedly served the cause of protecting Iran’s national interests,” the Foreign Ministry said, according to Russia’s RIA Novosti.
“We express our sincere condolences to the Iranian nation,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
