Regime Change On: Trump Threatens Iran’s Leader, Demands Unconditional Surrender

The United States is now making the final preparations to join the Israel attack on Iran, with a clear intention to overthrow the country’s Islamic government.

The attack began on June 13, with Israel stating that its goal was just to cripple the Iranian nuclear program. However, this goal appears to be slowly shifting towards regime change.

President Donald Trump seemed to confirm the U.S. direct involvement in the ongoing attack by implying on June 17 that the U.S. was in control of the skies over Iran.

“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” Trump writes on Truth Social, hailing the use of U..S-made weaponry, although without explicitly mentioning Israel. “Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”

The remarks came amid reports of mass deployment of dozens U.S. aerial assets, including tankers, fighter jets and bombers, from Europe to the Middle East. Earlier this week, these assets were moved from the U.S. to several bases across Europe. Carrier strike groups were also rushed to the region.

Just minutes after his first remarks, Trump said that Washington knows where Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is “hiding” and could assassinate him, but is refraining from doing so for now in order not to spark retaliation against American civilians and troops.

“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump writes on Truth Social.

“But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin,” he adds.

In a subsequent post, Trump wrote, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER,” implying that the U.S. wants Iran to completely give up its nuclear program, possibly even its missile and drone program, in exchange for a ceasefire. It is of course unrealistic to expect Tehran to accept such conditions.

Work to set a pretext for the U.S. intervention appears to be underway, with Arab media reporting the interception of Iranian drones over bases hosting American troops in Syria.

Meanwhile, Israel is opening up more about its hope for a regime change in Iran. On June 17, the country confirmed that its operation against Iran, codenamed ‘Rising Lion’, draws inspiration from the iconography of Iran’s pre-1979 monarchy under the Shah.

In an X post by Israel’s official Persian-language account, the country appeared to reference the imperial Lion and Sun emblem associated with the Pahlavi dynasty. The caption, in Persian, read: “The rise of the lions for the victory of light over darkness.”

The message was shared alongside a cartoon image showing Iran’s current flag being pierced by a golden lion wielding a sword.

Despite all indications of a near U.S. intervention, American officials and media are still portraying an image of hesitation in Washington, possibly to maintain the element of surprise.

Writing on X, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that he wants to address “a lot of crazy stuff on social media” about Trump’s approach to Iran.

Vance made the case that Trump has been consistent that “Iran cannot have uranium enrichment” and said “repeatedly that this would happen one of two ways — the easy way or the ‘other’ way.”

“He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president,” Vance adds, amid criticism from some far-right figures close to the president in recent days. “And of course, people are right to be worried about foreign entanglement after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy. But I believe the president has earned some trust on this issue.”

Now, it is being reported that the U.S. intervention will be just meant to help Israel take down the Fordow uranium enrichment plant, which is located deep underground. U.S. strategic bombers are needed to penetrate the site. But of course, this is just an excuse. In reality, the U.S. will likely attack all of the Islamic Republic’s remaining military capabilities and say that this was necessary to prevent a retaliation against American troops and civilians.

While a deal remains possible, the recent developments suggest that the U.S. is just one step away from launching its largest ever regime-change war in the Middle East.
