The Western support to the Kiev region and unprofessional actions of Ukrainian servicemen provided the Russian military with numerous precious trophies of NATO weapons and military equipment, including IFVs, tanks and missiles. All NATO secrets are studied by Russian military experts.
Today, they showed the US-made ATACMS missile that was not destroyed after the attack. In particular, the fuse, guidance and flight correction systems were studied. Russian military experts gained access to the block of laser gyroscopes and a GPS module of the missile.
The fuse was carefully studied. According to the expert, the complex and multicomponent fuse of ATACMS missiles was originally developed for an anti-ship missile. The fuse itself can be installed depending on the tasks.
‘It has a long-range clock system due to a movable pendulum. After a while, it is cocked. Also in the inner part there is a rotary engine that closes the internal circuit of the fuse. The system is duplicated. Four detonator caps have been installed. The main system for starting the mechanism is based on magnetic elements’, the experts commented.
Russian experts began to study the missile guidance and correction system. It has three laser ring gyroscopes installed in the laser gyroscope unit, which keeps the rocket on a set ballistic trajectory. Flight correction is carried out on the primary and last section of the trajectory thanks to the GPS.
The access to various NATO weapons and military equipment is a great benefit for the Russian military. Various NATO countries have previously refused to supply weapons to Ukraine in order to prevent them from falling into Russian hands.
