Part Of Daraa Militants Requests Negotiations With Government Ahead Of Expect Syrian Army Advance

On May 22, militants operating in the town of Nahaj in the southern Syrian province of Daraa requested negotiations with the Syrian government, according to loca lsources.

Some pro-government media activists even speculated that Nahaj militants had already started to a reconsiliation process surrendering their weapons. However, this still has to be confirmed.

At the same time, reports appeared that militants operating in the settlement of Mahjeh in the same area are also ready for negotiations.

The both developments come amid reports that the Syrian military is redeploying its forces from the recently liberated Damascus countryside to southern Syria.

Earlier, General Suheil ‘the Tiger’ al-Hassan, a commander of the elite Tiger Forces, reportedly moved to southern Syria in order to manage and oversee the expected military operation in the area.

According to experts, at the first phase the Syrina military is going to contribute efforsts to rech a reconsiliation deal with armed groups controlling the southern part of Syria. However, if these efforts fail, the Syrian Arab Army and its allies will launch a military operation to defeat the militants and to force their leadership to return to the negotiation table.
