Overview On October 19: Bloody Day For Ukraine On Kherson Front Lines

On the morning of October 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched again offensive operations on the front lines in the Kherson region. The main strike of the AFU was aimed at breaking through Russian defences along the right bank 0f the Dnieper River. At the same time, Ukrainian forces attempted to advance on the western front lines in the region and fierce clashes broke out near Davidov Brod.

The main battlefield in the Kherson region is the area near Dudchany, Mylovoe and Sukhanovo, where the AFU continue their attempts to advance towards the towns of Berislav and Novaya Kamenka.

On October 19, Ukrainian military launched another large-scaled offensive operation which the forces of at least two battalions of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade of the AFU, reinforced by a tank battalion of the 17th Brigade. A total of about 50 armored vehicles were reportedly deployed by the AFU in their offensive.

The first attack failed. By noon, the AFU transferred reserves to the battlefield. They included two companies of the 28th brigade and a tank company of the 56th motorized Infantry Brigade. According to the local reports, at least two battalions of the 60th Separate Infantry Brigade, which are reinforced by foreign militants from the USA, France, Belgium and Canada also took part in the offensive.

The advancing units came under heavy fire by Russian artillery and were forced to retreat.

According to preliminary reports, more than 15 tanks and 10 armored vehicles were destroyed. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can reach hundreds of dead and wounded servicemen, including those who were captured by Russian forces. Six RQ-20 Puma reconnaissance drones and a Su-25 attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force were reportedly shot down in the area in the morning during Ukrainian reconnaissance operations before the offensive.

Ater failed offensive, the AFU were forced to retreat and are now regrouping their forces, preparing for new attacks.

According to unconfirmed reports, the AFU managed to surround Russian forces of the 11th Guards Air Assault Brigade near the village of Novaya Kamenka where Russian paratroopers continue fighting.

On the same day, clashes broke out near the town of Davidov Brod which has recently come under control of the AFU. Early in the morning, a company of the 131st separate reconnaissance battalion of the AFU attempted to carry out a reconnaissance mission. The group was detected by Russian Orlan-10 drone and cut off by artillery fire.

All Ukrainian attacks were repelled. Deputy head of the regional administration Kirill Stremousov confirmed that the line of defense has not moved a single centimeter. He stressed that nothing threatens the city of Kherson region now.

The AFU are accumulating forces in the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions preparing for a large-scale offensive. According to the commander of Russian forces in the area of the Russian special military operation, Army General Sergei Surovikin, reports of Russian military intelligence indicate the possibility of the Kiev regime using prohibited methods of war in the Kherson area and preparing a massive missile strike on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam.

Since the situation in the region and Ukrainian shelling threaten civilians, they are evacuated from the settlements located close to the front lines as well as from the city of Kherson. Due to the actions of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the introduction of martial law in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics from October 20. Martial law will take effect from midnight.
