The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation do not decrease the intensity of their strikes on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. The Ukrainian military responds with drone strikes in Russian western region but Russian air defense is effectively repelling most of them.
The recent Ukrainian drone strikes are not particularly massive. On the night of October 25th, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed seven Ukrainian UAVs. Ukrainian forces continue attempts to attack the Crimean peninsula. LINK At night, three their UAVs were destroyed over the waters of the Sea of Azov. Four other UAVs were destroyed in the border Bryansk and Belgorod regions. Together with kamikaze UAVs, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched small-sized balloon, which was destroyed in the Rostov region.
In their turn, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched new wave of drone strikes throughout Ukraine. The main target of the night attack included military airfields, training centers and energy infrastructure facilities. At night, Russian strikes were reported in Odessa, Vinnitsa, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kiev, Zhitomir and Sumy regions.
According to the official statement released by the Air Force of Ukraine, Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept only 36 out of 63 Russian kamikaze drones. The reports by Ukrainian military officials rarely correspond to reality but in recent times, they dare to confirm that most of Russian drones reached their targets.
The night attack was launched in several waves of strikes. At the first stage, Russian forces launch a lot of decoy drones called Gerbera together with their Geran kamikaze UAVs. They are aimed to deceive and reveal the positions of Ukrainian air defense systems and force them to waste precious missiles.
Some of destroyed targets were difficult to hide. A series of explosions thundered in the western Lviv region. Fires broke out in the region, including in the area of Yavorov, despite the claims of Ukrainian authorities that all Russian drones were destroyed.
One of the targets was the 184th military training center located near Starichi. As a result of the strikes, two buildings with military personnel, a sports hall, a warehouse and a parking lot of military equipment were heavily damaged. According to preliminary reports,Ukrainian losses amounted to about 20 soldiers, including foreign mercenaries. About 10 pieces of military equipment in the training center were also damaged.
The capital of Ukraine Kiev is coming Russian attacks on a regular basis. On the night of October 25th, a large fire broke out as a result of the strikes on the local Oskorki-110 energy station.
Russian drones again struck the military airfield in Ozernoe in Zhitomir region. As a result of the strikes, the local command post and radar station were heavily damaged.
In the morning, Russian Iskander missiles struck the Mirgorod military airfield in Poltava region. As a result of the strikes, the local hangars, where the Ukrainian military stored and repaired aviation equipment, were destroyed. Two Su-27 heavy fighters of the Ukrainian 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade were heavily damaged. The day before, Russian forces attacked the airfield with UAVs. LINK
Russian strikes are also pounding the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the eastern war-torn regions. One of the targets of today’s strikes was the command post of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the 116th separate mechanized brigade deployed in Kupyansk. The command post was hidden in a shopping center that was destroyed by Russian ODAB-1500 heavy bomb. As a result of the attack, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost up to 40 soldiers and officers who coordinated the operations of Ukrainian forces in the Kupyansk direction.
The Ukrainian military does not stop air defense systems as a result of Russian precision strikes throughout the country, including near the frontlines. No NATO air defense systems can help Ukrainian forces to protect the strategically important rear infrastructure.
