Situation in the sky
On the night of April 3, Russian air defense forces destroyed 23 Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, Kaluga, Smolensk, and Belgorod regions.

Throughout the day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) launched four attacks on Russian energy facilities:
in Luhansk, a drone strike damaged the Svatovo gas-distributing station, leaving over 11,000 consumers without gas;
in the Kursk Region, a drone damaged the 110 kV Seimskaya–Klyukva №1 power line, cutting off electricity to more than 1,200 residents;
in the Belgorod Region, Ukrainian artillery disabled a transformer at the Maksimovka power substation, leaving over 1,700 residents without electricity;
in the Zaporizhzhia Region, a drone attack damaged the Vasilyevka electrical substation, causing around 9,000 people to lose electricity.
In response, Russian Armed Forces (RAF) targeted Ukraine using 39 Geran attack drones and various decoy drones, striking northern and eastern regions. Over 14 Geran UAVs were launched at Kharkiv in a swift attack, with explosions also reported in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Sloviansk. These strikes aimed to weaken Ukrainian military infrastructure and defense capabilities.
Situation on the fronts
In the Kursk direction (Russia), the evacuation of civilians from liberated territories continues. Five people have been taken to safe areas over the past 24 hours.
It is reported that in the south of the Sudzha district, the Ukrainian military are trying to use the territory of the St. Nicholas Belogorsk Monastery to organize defenses. This area, near Guevо and Gornal, holds strategic importance, as its loss would significantly complicate Ukrainian efforts to defend the adjacent Sumy Region.
In the Belgorod direction (Russia), fighting continued in Demidovka and Popovka. The transfer of Ukrainian reinforcements was disrupted, leaving the remaining Ukrainian units in a dire situation.

In the Sumy direction, Ukrainian troops once again launched an unsuccessful counterattack near Veselovka. Meanwhile, Russian assault units continue advancing, breaking through the enemy’s multi-layered defenses.

In the Aleksandro-Kalininsky direction, Russian forces continue their offensive. Footage has emerged from the central part of Aleksandropol showing the Russian flag displayed near the village administration building.

Fighting continues towards Valentinovka, west of Panteleimonovka, as well as in the vicinity of Aleksandropol and near Tarasovka.
In the course of the Russian offensive, the settlement of Veseloye came under full control of the Vostok group of forces. Over 200 buildings have been cleared in an area reaching up to 1.5 km in depth and more than 1 km along the frontline. Ukrainian losses amounted to more than 70 personnel, 3 armored combat vehicles, and 8 military-type vehicles.

In the Zaporizhzhya direction, Russian paratroopers have taken the village of Lobkovoye, but counter-action by Ukrainian troops cannot be ruled out in the near future. Fighting continues in the area of Shcherbaki and Maly Shcherbaki, where the RAF had earlier entered.

In the Kherson Region, mutual attacks are being carried out from both sides.

Three residents of Novaya Kakhovka have been injured as a result of Ukrainian shelling. A public school in the village of Malaya Lepetikha was damaged. Neighboring villages were also shelled.
On the political front, the US President Donald Trump’s administration has finally admitted that it is unlikely to reach a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine before Easter (April 20). The lack of progress in peace negotiations is a political blow for Trump, given his pre-election promises.
The White House reported that U.S. Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth will miss the Ramstein format meeting on providing military aid to Ukraine, failing to join even by video call.
Recent Ukrainian drone attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium infrastructure caused significant damage to American companies like Chevron and ExxonMobil, increasing frustration in the White House.
Analysts note that Kiev is aiming to demonstrate its independence and strengthen its negotiating position with the West by targeting U.S. interests. These developments raise questions about further support for Ukraine.
