The Russian government has approved an open-ended on the deployment of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria and submitted it to President Vladimir Putin for ratification to the State Duma.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian and Syrian governments agreed to the indefinite deployment of the Russian military grouping in the country. The agreement was signed in the Syrian capital in August last year.
According to the document, Syrian authorities should provide the Hmeymim airfield with its infrastructure and territory, to be determined by the sides, for Russia without any compensation.
Currently, aircraft and helicopters, which take part in anti-terrorist operations against the Islamic State in Syria, are deployed on the base Hmeymim.
