Late on June 19, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had interpreted four more drones launched from Yemen by the Houthis (Ansar Allah).

Between morning and noon, the coalition intercepted seven Houthi drones. The drones were shot down over Yemen, likely by warplanes of the Royal Saudi Air Force. F15 fighter jets armed with AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile are usually tasked with such missions.

The four other drones intercepted in the evening brought the total number of Houthi drones shot down by the Saudi-led coalition in the last 24 hours to 11.

“A total of 11 booby-trapped drones were intercepted today” the coalition said in a statement. “All the hostile [attack] attempts by the [Houthi] militia were intercepted and destroyed.”

According to the Saudi-led coalition, the drones were on their way to target the southern Saudi cities of Najran and Khamis Mushait.

The Houthis have not commented on the Saudi-led coalition claims, yet. However, early in the morning the Yemeni group announced an attack with a single Qasef-2K suicide drone on King Khalid Air Base in the southern Saudi province of ‘Asir.

The 11 drones shot down by the Saudi-led coalition today were most certainly a part of a large-scale operation by the Houthis. Usually, the group announces such operations 24 hours later.
