The northern Ukrainian front has become very active in recent days. The Russian army launched attacks in new directions, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine are sending editional reserves to counterattack.
On November 26th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially reported that the village of Kopanki in the Kharkiv region came under the full Russian control. Ukrainian military positions in the village were stormed by forces of the Zapad (West) group of forces. Kopanki is located in the Krasny Liman direction about 35 kilometers south of Kupyansk, where the Russian military is advancing on a wide front from the Svatovo-Kreminna road. Assault on Kopanki began after Russian forces secured their control of Pervomaiskoe (Pershotravneve) in early November. LINK
South of Kupyansk, Russian forces are expanding their zone of control north and south of Kruglyakovka and near Lozovaya.
New video of Russian reconnaissance group which entered the grey zone near Kupyansk to capture Ukrainian documents and samples of military equipment. At night, they ambushed Ukrainian soldier. On their way back, Ukrainian forces opened fire but the group fulfilled the task and returned to Russian positions:
Another Russian recent attack surprised Ukrainian forces north of Kupyansk. Russian assault groups on their speed boats crossed the Oskol River and gained a foothold on the western bank. LINK Ukrainian forces were repelled from their military positions near the strategically important village of Dvurechnaya. There are the roads used for transfer of military supplies for the Ukrainian garrison in Kupyansk. According to the latest reports by Ukrainian military sources, Russian bridgehead on the western coast near the village is expanding. Some preliminary reports claimed that Russian forces approached Dvurechnaya and entered its eastern outskirts. The Ukrainian military command may be forced to reinforce the flanks of Kupyansk and some reserve units from the city may be thrown into battles to the north to save control of the roads.
Meanwhile, military reports from the city of Kupyansk differ. On the morning of November 26th, some Russian and Ukrainian sources reported that Russian forces were repelled from the southeastern outskirts of the city. Russian assault groups gained a foothold in the residential area two weeks ago LINK but after heavy battles against the overwhelming Ukrainian forces they were reportedly forced to retreat. The reports are yet to be confirmed by the footage.
