There is no safe place for German Leopard main battle tanks on Ukrainian frontlines. After Kiev’s counteroffensive in the Zaporozhie region failed, the Ukrainian military was forced to send a significant part of its forces from the southern direction to the Avdeevka front in an attempt to stop Russian advance around this strategically important stronghold of the AFU in the Donbass. Together with several Ukrainian brigades, Leopard tanks traveled from the Zaporozhie region to the Donetsk People’s Republic. German tanks were warmly welcomed by Russian fire on the outskirts of Avdeevka.
In the very first battle in the DPR, Leopard 2A6 was destroyed by the very first shot of Russian anti-tank missile. The tank belonged to the 47th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was sent to Avdeevka from the Orekhov region in the Zaporozhie region more than a week ago.
The excited Russian drone operators filmed the strike and shared footage online:
The strike likely hit the fuel tank, as a result, the tank got fire. The crew was seen escaping.
Ukrainian servicemen have recently filmed Leopard 2A6 tanks on their way to Avdeevka. The vehicles were equipped with anti-comulative grilles, but this invention of the Ukrainian military failed to protect the German vehicles.
More German Leopard MBTs were filmed burning on Ukrainian frontlines in the recent days. A lot of them are destroyed by small cheap FPV drones.
The mass deployment of foreign tanks in the battles confirms that the AFU are forced to deploy the strategic reserves in their last attempts to achieve at least some tactical gains in the Zaporozhie regions, while the same expansive gifts from NATO are already used in an attempt to stop Russian advance in the DPR.
