The Russian Khmeimim Air Base on the Syrian coast sustained no damage at all as a result of the October 3 suspected Israeli strikes, a satellite image released by Obretix, a defense observer on the X social networks, shows.

The strikes targeted warehouses located right on the M1 coastal highway, nearly one kilometer to the west of Khmeimim and more than two kilometers to the northeast of the town of Jableh.

The warehouses were allegedly being used as a temporary ammunition depot. A series of blasts lasted for nearly an hour after the strikes. The M1 highway was badly damaged. While Khmeimim was not hit, the strikes clearly endangered the air base.

Neither the Syrian or Russian militaries have released any statement clarifying what exactly happened between Khmeimim and Jableh.

There was also no comment from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), which does not usually claim responsibility for its attack against Syria.

Israel escalated its attacks on Syria significantly since the outbreak of the war in the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip, targeting Syrian military sites as well as personnel of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and other factions of the so-called Axis of Resistance.

Earlier this week, the IDF announced that it will work to prevent the supply of any weapons from Iran to Hezbollah through the Lebanese-Syrian border.
