New day of hostilities on the Ukrainian frontlines brought new victories of the Russian army. The Russian military is pushing the Armed Forces of Ukraine from their military positions on frontlines in different directions. On May 6, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full Russian control of two villages in different directions, they included Solovyovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Kotlyarovka in the Kharkiv region.
The area of Ocheretino remains the main front of the rapid Russian offensive in the Donbass. After the Russian military gained a foothold and secured its positions around the town, its is rapidly expanding the zone of its control around Ocheretino, launching attacks in different directions. To the north of the town, the village of Solovyovo came under the full control of the Russian army. This was officially confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense in its daily briefing on May 6.
The official claims by the Russian Defense Ministry mean the completion of the mop up operation in the village. According to the reported from the front, Solovyovo came under the Russian control back in April, but the Armed Forces of Ukrainian continued attempts to counterattack. The Russian flag was raised in the center of the village on April 25.

The rapid advance in the area was passible thanks to the Russian victory in Ocheretino, the full control of which was officially declared on May 5. Located on the hills, the town served as an important stronghold, which allowed several settlements around it to be taken under close fire control. As a result, Ukrainian strongholds in the area began to fall one after another. For example, on April 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the village of Novobakhmutovka located nearby. LINK
It seems that the Russian military is not going to slow down the pace of its advance in the Avdeevka direction. Battles have already reached the outskirts of the village of Novopokrovskoe to the south and Novoaleksandrovka to the north.

After the town of Berdychi came under the full Russian control on May 2, and its outskirts were secured from Ukrainian counterattacks, the remnants of the Ukrainian garrison were forced to retreat from the first line of their defense west of Avdeevka. The retreat was densely covered by Russian artillery fire. The Ukrainian military has no time to reinforce the necessary defense in the settlements westward. Repelled from their positions, Ukrainian troops are forced to counterattack, losing the necessary reserves.
Ukrainian defense to the west of Avdeevka crashed and the Russian army is advancing on a wide front southwest, west and northwest of Avdeevka. In particular, it is rapidly expanding the zone of its control with successful offensive operations around Ocheretino.
