As Xinhua reports, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the United States’ announcement it would increase significantly its military presence in Europe.
The US Secretary of defense Ash Carter on Tuesday announced that the US plans to strengthen its military presence in Europe.
«I strongly welcome this proposal», – said Stoltenberg, adding the budget request, if approved, will lead to a quadrupling of funding to 3.4 billion US dollars in 2017 for the US force posture in Europe.
This will enhance the rotation of US forses and intensify military training and exercises.
