Hezbollah has advanced precision-guided rockets that can reach any point in Israel, yet it does not produce them locally, the Lebanese groups Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah revealed on May 31.
“We have in Lebanon precision rockets that are able to target direct posts in Israel and that would change the face of the region,” the Lebanese leader said at a ceremony held by Hezbollah to mark al-Quds International Day.
Nasrallah added that Washington is trying to link the issue of precision-guided rockets to the ongoing talks on the border demarcation between Israel and Lebanon. He warned that Hezbollah could consider establishing factories for such advanced weapon systems, if Washington continues with this policy.
The Lebanese leader went on to confirm that several countries had sent many Israeli threats to the Lebanese government over the presence of precision-guided rockets in the country. Two months ago, al-Hayat, a London-based newspaper, revealed that Paris delivered such threats to Beirut.
“Hezbollah will respond to any Israeli aggression on any resistance target in Lebanon quickly, directly and strongly,” Nasrallah said responding to these threats.
While the issue of Hezbollah’s precision-guided missiles is provoking much tension between Israel and Lebanon, a war remains unlikely due to the high cost it would infect on both sides.
