This map provides a general look at the military situation in Syria on August 1, 2017. An intense fighting is ongoing between government forces and ISIS terrorists in the southern countryside of Raqqah where ISIS is attempting to break the pocket west of Maadan. If this pocket is cleared from ISIS units, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies will be able to advance on the town of Maadan itself.
