Russian troops in the Avdiivka direction
On January 20, 2024, the situation in the Avdiivka direction remains extremely tense and is characterized by successes of the Russian army.
Russian forces advanced south of Avdiivka and captured the area of the Tsarskaya Okhota location. Russian groups have now taken up positions in the city along Soborna Street. There is also information about the liberation of the dacha settlement “Skotovataya”, located to the south-east of “Tsarskaya Okhota” and to the west of the village “Vineyards”. According to some reports, to the north of Skotovataya, the Russian Armed Forces also took control of the area near the quarry. At the same time, fighting continues in other areas, where Russian troops are also focused on expanding the zone of control. Clashes between the AFU and Russian troops continue in the area of the coke plant. At the same time, the main efforts of the Russian Armed Forces are aimed at clearing the dacha sector around Avdeevka and reducing the disputed areas.

The success of the Russian troops has separated the AFU stronghold around the old military air defense station from the supply. In fact, the territory of the military station is now surrounded by fields, although it has significant fortifications. The AFU soldiers there are effectively surrounded, as their supply is completely severed. The terrain here is absolutely favorable only for the Russian troops, as it is most convenient for them to use FPV drones and other tactical weapons. The 100-200 people remaining there are forced to either abandon their positions or surrender as prisoners.
At the moment, there is a very different situation on the different sides of the front. On the one hand, the Russian forces are not throwing all their soldiers into the offensive, which saves human resources and preserves the army’s combat capability in the conditions of the reboot of the Russian military-industrial complex. On the other hand, the Ukrainian army, forced to carry out illogical orders to maintain existing positions. As a result, we see mountains of corpses, which Kiev is piling on the front and stalling for time in order to receive additional funding from Western countries for its ruling elite.
