The Russian military does no tstop pushing the Armed Forces of Ukraine away from their strongholds along the entire line of contact in the Donbass. As a result of offensive operation in the Avdeevka region, Russian forces achieved new gains in several directions.
Expanding their zone of control around the town of Ocheretino, located northwest of Avdeevka in the DPR, Russian units recently approached the village of Sokol and launched an offensive there. The assault was launched from the southeastern and northeastern directions simultaneously.
According to the reports from the front, Russian forces also managed to break through Ukrainian defense and reached the center of the ruined settlement. After the reconnaissance attack, they retreated to their positions in the eastern part of the village.
Both Russian and Ukrainian military sources confirm that as a result of the battles, the Russian military gained a foothold in the eastern part of the settlement. After the Western media confirmed Russian gains, the Ukrainian military was forced to admit its retreat.
Unable to hide the defeat, the Ukrainian command decided to comment on the situation in the area of the village of Sokil. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the information that the situation of the Ukrainian army in the village has become significantly more complicated, while Russian troops are attacking from several directions at once.
Bradley was destroyed by Russian artillery after it was immobilized by a mine explosion on the streets in the village of Sokil mined by the Russian military:
More NATO losses in the area:
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are unlikely to hold control of the village of Sokil for a long time. The Russian victory in Ocheretino secured Russian control of the dominant heights on the northwestern flank of Avdeevka. In its turn, the village of Sokil and other settlements to the west are located in the lowlands. The Ukrainian military positions there are under the close Russian fire control. The only way for the Ukrainian military to hold control there is to send more and more manpower to the village that has no strategic importance for the destroyed Ukrainian defense in the Avdeevka region.
Realizing its defeat west of Avdeevka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a new line of defense to the west of the Volchya River (do not confuse it eith the river with the same name in Volchansk in the Kharkiv region). In an attempt to gain more time, the Ukrainian General Staff is trying to slow down the advance of the Russian army west of Ocheretino by any means, including throwing more servicemen into the slaughter.
Amid the ongoing assault in Sokil, the Russian army is pushing the frontlines to the west on a wide front. After the Russian control was secured in Umanskoe, Russian forces expanded the zone of their control north of the village and straightened the front west of Semenovka. After the Russian troops won the battle for Netailovo they approached Karlovka and are preparing for the assault. At the same time, clashes reached the village of Yasnobrodovka, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are expected to retreat across the water reservoir in the nearest future.
Unable to organize the necessary defense there, the Ukrainian military is counting on the terrain and natural obstacles for the Russian offensive, including the Volchya River and the Karlovskoe water reservoir.
