Security forces killed an armed militant suspected of planning a terrorist attack in Russia’s republic of Dagestan, the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) said in a statement on February 19.
According to the statement, the suspect was plotting a terrorist attack in the city of Derbent on the Caspian Sea shore. He was located found in a village near in the area cornered in an abandoned building during the operation. He refused to surrender and opened fire before being killed in the shootout.
Security forces seized weapons, ammunition and a suicide belt on the scene.
