On December 15th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation summed up the interim results of the ongoing military operations in Ukraine. Today’s report revealed heavy damage inflicted to Ukrainian air defense in the last day alone.
Operational and tactical aviation, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of groups of troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed a combat control vehicle, AN/MPQ-65 radar station and four launchers of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system manufactured in the United States. Infrastructure of Ukrainian military airfields was damaged.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed that Ukrainian aircraft was shot down in the southern Kherson region. Thus, Russian air defense forces destroyed MiG–29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, eight rockets of the US-made HIMARS MLRS and 116 unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type during the day.
In total, since the beginning of the Russian Special Military Operation, Ukrainian and NATO aor defense and air forces lost 650 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 37,809 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
