On the night of January 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted another massive attack on the territory of the Russian Federation. Together with drone strikes, Kiev together with NATO warmongers, launched Western missiles on targets in the Russian western regions.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Bryansk region with six US-made ATACMS tactical missiles, as well as six British Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles. 31 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones were also launched during the attack.
At the same time, Kiev attempted to attack Crimea with two British Storm Shadow missiles, but both missiles were intercepted by Russian air defense systems over the Black Sea.
The Russian military summed up that the attacks were repelled, there were no casualties. The military does not report on any damage on the ground. Moscow warned response for the strikes with NATO missiles on its territory.
Missile attacks were preceded by the massive drone strikes during the night and in the morning. The Russian military did not particularly report on the total number of destroyed Ukrainian UAVs. In its daily briefing, the Ministry if Defense claimed that in total, “Russian air defense systems shot down six US-made ATACMS tactical missiles, eight UK-made Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles, a US-made HIMARS MLRS rocket and 180 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles, including 146 outside the special military operation zone”, which means in the Russian rear areas.
According to some military observers, there were about 200 Ukrainian UAVs launched during the attack and this could be the most massive attack on the Russian territory; but these reports were not confirmed.
Ukrainian UAVs were reportedly spotted in the Bryansk, Tula, Tambov, Oryol, Kursk, Penza, Voronezh, Krasnodar, Saratov, Tatarstan, Rostov regions.
The governor of the Rostov region reported that 14 drones were intercepted by the EW means. No damage was reported as a result of the attack.
According to the local reports, Ukrainian drones reached several targets in the Saratov region. In his turn, the local governor confirmed Ukrainian attack on an industrial enterprise in the city of Engels, revealing no details. The oil depot caught fire there, as well as a large refinery in the city of Saratov.
Industrial facilities were targeted in the Tatarstan region. One of the drones reportedly struck an LNG storage facility near the Kazanorgsintez plant. As a result of the explosion three fuel tanks caught fire. Two Ukrainian UAVs were shot down in the sky over Almetyevsk. They targeted the local oil pumping station Kaleikino. This is the largest hub of Transneft company, providing oil delivery from Siberia to central Russia and abroad. Another UAV was shot down on its way to attack an aircraft manufacturing plant in Kazan.
Kiev was preparing for the massive attack, accumulating drones, abstaining from massive strikes in recent days. The combined attack was aimed to inflict heavy damage to Russian rear infrastructure. As a result, Ukrainians are awaiting for Russian retaliation strikes.
On the night of January 14, Russian forces also attacked different targets throughout Ukrainian with drones. Strikes were reported in the Kiev, Vinnitsa, Cherkassy, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, kharkiv, Kherson regions. However, Russia is yet to respond to the night strikes with NATO missiles on the Russian territory.
