On August 8, the Egyptian Air Force carried out 5 airstikes destroying an ISIS bunker and weapons depot. As a result of the airstrikes and the followed security operation, 5 ISIS members were killed and three other were captured.
On August 9, Captain Amr el-Saka and three police servicemen died in a ISIS ambush in the international road linking Ismail and Arish. The attack took place near the Bir al-Bad checkpoint.
At the same day the Egyptian military announced that the army destroyed 2 vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices prepared and ready to be used against the army.
The ISIS-linked media published an infographic showing alleged army losses during its recent operation south of Arish. ISIS allegedly destroyed and damaged 26 army vehicles. According to pro-government sources, this number is overestimated.
The army is now conducting a large-scale operation against ISIS positions south of Arish city.
ISIS also declared the death of Abou Ased al-Maqdsy from the Gaza strip during the operation.
On August 12, an IED targeted a police vehicle in Arish city killing 2 servicemen and wounding six others.
