Recently, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) declared that they had established full control of the Syrian-Iraqi border, on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River after defeating ISIS militants there.
However, despite these claims, the security situation in the area remains tense. ISIS cells are still capable of operating in the border area and, according to local sources, further attacks by the terrorist group could be expected soon.
