On the night of September 5, Ukrainian drones violated Belarusian airspace. At about 1.30 am local time, residents of the city of Gomel heard two explosions and at least one inflamed object falling in the skies. The targets were reportedly moving from the Ukrainian territory. It turned out, that the Belarusian air defense forces intercepted Ukrainian UAVs.
Minsk confirmed the incident. Commander of the General Staff Sergey Frolov declared that at night the violation of the state border of the Republic of Belarus was recorded. The airspace was presumably violated by UAVs. The Belarusian military made a decision to destroy the targets. All of them were destroyed.
As a result of the fall of an allegedly downed UAV, a brick warehouse building in Gomel on 8th Ilyich Lane caught fire.
The official report did not reveal the number of destroyed UAVs and did not officially confirm that they were Ukrainian. The Belarusian military is reportedly studying the wreckage of the destroyed targets. One of the intercepted UAVs reportedly crashed outside the city. The local reports confirm two loud explosions. According to them at least one or two drones were destroyed.
In their turn, Russian air defense forces destroyed at least seven Ukrainian drones in the Russian border regions. A rocket of the Soviet-made Olkha MLRS an two UAVs were destroyed in the Belgorod region, three more drones were destroyed in the Kursk region, and two more UAVs were intercepted in the Bryansk region. The list of Ukrainian military provocations against Belarus is long. This is the second violation of the Belarusian airspace by Ukrainian UAVs in recent weeks. Belarusian border guards often intercept Ukrainian drones over their territory, including numerous reconnaissance drones destroyed near the border, which are rarely covered in the media. The reconnaissance drones are launched by small Ukrainian reconnaissance groups like Georgia, Partisan, Vovchak, Hmara, Shaman etc. which belong to the 103th separate reconnaissance battalion operating near the Belarusian border and other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On September 4, Ukrainian government excluded the area of 50 meters near the Belarusian border from the exclusion zone established after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
