Late on August 28, the Lebanese military opened fire at two small Israeli drones which where flying over one of its center near the town Aadaysit Marjaayoun on the U.N. separation line, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

According to the al-Mayadeen TV, the army was not able to down the drones, which retreated right away to Israeli territory.

In its first comment on the incident, a spokesman for the Israeli military told the Reuters news agency that the army is “checking the [Lebanese] report” now. This new incident came amid a high tension between Lebanon and Israel.

Last week, two drones laden with explosives attacked a media center of Hezbollah in Beirut’s Southern Suburb. The Lebanese group leader held Israel responsible for the attack vowing a near response.

“Wait for our response which may take place at any time on the borders and beyond the borders,” Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech on August 25.

Tel Aviv took Hezbollah’s threat seriously. The Israeli military deployed additional Iron Dome anti-rocket systems in the northern part of the country and placed its troops there on a high alert.
