Large U.S.-led Coalition Convoy Entered Northeastern Syria Coming From Iraq: SANA

On September 11, a large convoy of the U.S.-led coalition entered northeastern Syria coming from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

“The U.S. occupation brought a convoy of 40 vehicles into Syria’s territory with the protection of its warplanes, which searched the area before and during the convoy’s passage,” the state-run news agency quoted a local source as saying.

According to the SANA, the U.S.-led coalition’s 40 supply trucks were loaded with logistical supplies as well as military equipment.

While U.S.-led coalition supply convoys are being targeted in Iraq on a regular basis, they are still moving into northeastern Syria with much freedom.

In the last few months, hundreds of supply trucks have entered Syria’s al-Hasakah through the Semalka border crossing with the Kurdistan Region.

The U.S.-led coalition, which withdrew its troops from several areas in northeastern Syria last year, is now again working to assert its presence in the region. Coalition troops are solidifying their presence near major oil fields. Moreover, a recent report revealed that the coalition was setting up a new air field in northeastern al-Hasakah.
