On December 17, Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group attempted an attack in the Russian border Belgorod region. According to local reports, the group consisted of about 20 Ukrainian servicemen.
Shooting and explosions were reported in the afternoon in the area of the village of Terebreno located near the Ukrainian border. The battle ended in defeat of Ukrainian saboteurs. Their group was spotted immediately after they approached the border and they were promptly destroyed by Russian border guards. Any other details of the battle are yet to be revealed by Russian military officials or local authorities.
There was no evacuation of civilians from the village of Terebreno, but some civilians volunteerly left the village.
While the Ukrainian military is retreating on all frontlines, Kiev is looking for at least some victories to declare in the MSM. Groups of Ukrainian saboteurs are thrown into operations on the Russian territory which have no military sense. The Ukrainian military has no forces to launch any large ground operations across the Russian border, while some small attacks bring no victories and are repelled by Russian border guards. They also do not distract the Russian military deployed on Ukrainian frontlines. Kiev’s sabotage attacks on a small village bordering Russia are aimed solely at terrorizing the civilian population and declaring some new fake victories in the media.
