Krasnyi Lyman Is Balancing On Edge While Russia Prepares For War Without Giveaways

Russian battle tank around Krasnyi Lyman

After more than 8 year of the conflict, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics as well as Kherson and Zaporozhie regions have finally become an official part of Russia. The official ceremony of signing agreements on joining of these regions to Russia took place on September 30. However, this historical event took place amid the crisis in the area of the town of Krasnyi Lyman in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Krasnyi Lyman was liberated by Russian forces in May 2022. In late September-early October, this town as well as the nearby areas remain the main point of attacks of Kyiv’s forces. The NATO-backed regime moved forward its best forces in a series fierce attempts to capture this area before September 30 and as of now achieved particular tactical successes using the lack of the Russian manpower in the region. The recently launched partial mobilization in Russia sill needs time to give real effect and the Russian group of forces involved in operations against the Kiev regime remains very limited. (Reminder: before 2014 and 2022 events, Ukraine was the second largest country in Europe after Russia).

As of the morning of October 1, the heroism of Russian units deployed in Krasnyi Lyman allowed to keep control over the town. An important role was also played by work of Russian artillery and aviation.

The route from the town to Torskoye – Kreminnaya remains under the control of Russian force. At the same time, the forest areas between Belogorovka, Kremennaya and Yampol are in the gray zone. Therefore raid groups of the Kiev regime are able to attack the road in particular conditions.

Reports claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are concentrating troops in the areas of Drobyshevo and Seversk. Pro-Russian sources speculate that the Russian military is deploying some reserves from detachments from the Southern Military District to the area.

Kiev’s troops keep control of the villages of Kolodezi, Shurovo and Dibrova around Krasniy Liman. Therefore, if the Ukrainian Armed Forces push the Russians out of Torskoye, Krasniy Liman will be in fact encircled. Therefore, if reports about the Russian reinforcements are just speculations and no active actions are employed by the Russian Armed Forces in this sector soon, Russian units will likely withdraw from Krasniy Liman. Contrary to the Kiev regime, Russia prioritizes its people over ‘media victories’ and is not determined to spend resources for media victories that have no military value.

Intense fighting is ongoing in the sector of Krasnyi Lyman.

It is also interesting to look at the recent statement of the Russian Defense Ministry on the progress of the military operation in Ukraine (released on September 30):

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

High-precision attack launched by Russian Aerospace Forces has resulted in the destruction of the workshops for assembling Ukrainian Grom-2 and Tochka-U operational-tactical missiles at Southern Machine-Building Plant near Dnepropetrovsk.

Missile attacks launched at the provisional bases of the units from 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and a missile and artillery armament depot of 80th Airborne Assault Brigade of the AFU have resulted in the elimination of up to 200 nationalists, 23 units of military equipment and over 30 tonnes of ordnance for cannon-launched and rocket artillery near Kramatorsk (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Attack launched by Russian Aerospace Forces has resulted in the elimination of a mobile group from AFU Centre of Electronic Reconnaissance near Chervony Stav (Nikolayev region).

Moreover, 1 platoon of U.S.-manufactured HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) has been neutralised near Nikolayev within counter-battery warfare.

Fighter aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down 1 MiG-29 airplane of Ukrainian Air Force near Kleshcheyevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

1 Ukrainian Su-25 airplane has been destroyed by Russian air defence facilities near Ternoviye Pody (Nikolayev region).

Air defence facilities of Russian Aerospace Forces have shot down 5 unmanned aerial vehicles near Urozhaynoye (Kherson region), Svatovo, Vladimirovka (Lugansk People’s Republic), Petrovskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic) and Novoyegorovka (Kharkov region).

18 U.S.-manufactured rocket-propelled projectiles launched by HIMARS MLRS over Kherson, near Novaya Kakhovka, Chervony Mayak (Kherson region) and 2 U.S.-manufactured HARM anti-radar missiles over Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region).

In total, 309 airplanes and 155 helicopters, 2,112 unmanned aerial vehicles, 377 air defence missile systems, 5,153 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 856 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 3,440 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 5,988 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.

Kiev regime continues its provocations aimed at creating a possible technological disaster at Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Ukrainian artillery shelled residential areas of Energodar and the territory adjacent to the nuclear power plant.

The attacks were launched from AFU-controlled area of Nikopol (Dnepropetrovsk region).

Enemy firepower has been neutralized by Russian artillery’s counter-attack.

The radiation environment remains normal.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported citing own sources that the Pentagon is setting up to officially create a command center to control and manage ‘assistance to Ukraine’ in Germany. The center will be led by the US side and involve at least 300 personnel. While the fact that Kiev’s military operations against Russia are almost fully controlled and managed by NATO (mostly the US) is an open secret, the official opening of such center in Germany will become the formal recognition that the conflict in Ukraine is the conflict between NATO and Russia. In these conditions, the Kiev regime is just brushwood in the fire of this conflict. In the face of the Russian determination to limit half-way approaches of the previous months, with every day of the conflict, the Kiev regime would have almost no chances to achieve any kind of prolonged ‘positive effect’ on the battlefield. As the Russian diplomacy regularly showed, Moscow is always open for negotiations. However, terms of every new proposed deal will be worse for Kiev than the previous ones.
