The Kord 12.7-mm heavy machine guns, which are in service of the Syrian government forces, are extensively used during military operations in urban environments. So, these weapons were used during the recent fighting in Aleppo, near the Ramouseh Artillery Base, where the bloodiest battles unfolded.
According to military experts, an infantry version of the Kord, equipped with bipods, is very convenient for use against targets, trying to hide behind brick and concrete walls. It is an ideal weapon to hunt for snipers and grenade throwers.
The shooting range of the gun is 1,500-2,000 meters. Considering the power of the machine gun, its 32-kilogram weight does not seem so great. The weapon can be enough quickly moved from position to position.
Probably, the main problem of use of the Kord machine guns in Syria is its comparatively small amount. According to experts, new supplies are needed in order to effectively counter terrorists during street battles.
