Another wave of attacks by Kiev forces were repelled in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 25.
Kiev forces were stopped by the Russian military’s Sever Group of Force near the settlements of Komarovka, Malaya Loknya, Nechayev, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Vishnyovka, Borki, Pogrebki and Spalnoye, the ministry said in a briefing, adding that 40 Ukrainian troops, one tank, four armored fighting vehicles and two motor vehicles were neutralized.
The ministry also said that Russian strikes targeted gatherings of Ukraine’s 22nd and 61st mechanized, 80th and 82nd air assault brigades as well as the 1st National Guard Brigade and the 1004th Security and Service Brigade close to the settlements of Vishnyovka, Gordeyevka, Ivashkovsky, Krasnooktyabrsky, Kruglenkoye, Lyubimovka, Mikhailovka, Novaya Sorochina, Plekhovo, Rubanshchina and Snagost.
Other strikes hit the Ukrainian region of Sumy, targeting the reserves of the 22nd, 41st, 54th, 61st, 115th mechanized, 80th, 82nd air assault, and 92nd assault brigades as well as the 1st Brigade of the National Guard.
The101st and 103rd territorial defense brigades were also struck near the settlements of Belopolye, Belovody, Vorozhba, Druzhba, Katerinovka, Obody, Pervomayskoye, Pershetravnevoye, Peremoga, Svessa, Sumy, Ugroyedy, Yunakovka and Yastrebinoye, according to the ministry.
“The enemy losses were over 300 troops and 14 armored vehicles, including one tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, one armored personnel carrier, 11 armored fighting vehicles, seven motor vehicles, one artillery gun, one engineering vehicle, two electronic warfare stations as well as ST-68 air target acquisition radar,” the ministry said.
“Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses were over 5,800 troops, 72 tanks, 31 infantry fighting vehicles, 58 armored personnel carriers, 383 armored fighting vehicles, 177 motor vehicles, 37 artillery guns, 5 air defense missile systems, 11 multiple-launch rocket system launchers, including three HIMARS MLRS [multiple launch rocket systems] and one another MLRS, 9 electronic warfare stations, one counter-battery warfare radar, one air defense radar, five engineering vehicles, including two counter obstacle vehicles, and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle,” it added.
The ministry also released video footage showing recent Russian helicopter strikes as well as some of Kiev forces losses in the Kursk direction.
Kiev forces launched their surprise attack in Kursk on August 6, relying mainly on foreign mercenaries and Western-made weapons.
The Russian military halted the advance of Kiev forces in the very first days of the attack and is now working to eliminate the infiltrators.
