Two children were killed and another civilian was wounded late on September 11 when a series of Israeli strikes hit southern Lebanon.

Lebanese military sources told Xinhua that one of the strikes saw an Israeli drone targeting a motorcycle on the al-Bayada road close to the port city of Tyre. The strike killed the two riders, a 17-year-old boy with his 12-year-old brother, both from al-Bayada.

A civilian from Khiam was wounded from inhaling smoke from phosphorus shells that struck the town, the Chinese news agency reported, citing its sources.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) didn’t comment on the deadly strike that targeted the al-Bayada road. However, the military announced on September 12 that it launched a wave of strikes against southern Lebanon overnight.

Israeli fighter jets struck Hezbollah sites in the town of Khraibeh, according to a statement by the IDF, which also said that a rocket launcher in the town of Ayta al-Shaab and buildings used by the group in Houla, Ayta ash-Shab and Marwahin were also targeted. Video footage of the strikes were released.

Nearly a dozen attacks targeted northern Israel on September 11, with Hezbollah claiming responsibility for nine attacks and the Hamas Movement for one.

In one of Hezbollah’s attacks, an anti-tank guided missile hit a checkpoint of the IDF near the settlement of Dan. An Israeli soldier was severely wounded as a result.

Hezbollah and its allies have been launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of Hamas and other armed factions in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Palestinian enclave in October of last year.

So far, the confrontation has resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 20 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 870 people have been killed, including 436 fighters of Hezbollah and over 150 civilians.
