Israeli Security Agencies Foiled Iranian Plot To Attack Israelis In Turkey – Report

File image.

Israeli security agencies had foiled an Iranian plot to carry out attacks on Israeli targets in Turkey, KAN News reported on June 12.

Security officials from Israel informed their Turkish counterparts of the plot and asked for their assistance to foil the attacks, which were reportedly planned by an Iranian network operating in Turkey.

KAN News did not reveal the nationality of the alleged Iranian agents were, their number, or if any of them were arrested by Turkish security forces.

At the end of May, Israel advised its citizens to avoid visiting Turkey amid fears of a possible Iranian response to the assassination of Quds Force Colonel Hassan Sayad Khodayari. Back then, the National Security Council explicitly identified “Iranian terrorist operatives” as the source of the threat to Israelis in Turkey and nearby countries.

Col. Khodayari was shot five times in his car by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike in the Iranian capital Tehran on May 22 . The Israeli intelligence was blamed for the assassination. Iran vowed to take revenge.

Israel and Iran have been locked up in a cover war for years. Recently, the Israeli intelligence stepped up the scale of its covert operations in Iran, forcing the last to make more efforts to hunt down high-value Israeli targets.
