Israel has once again called on Iran to withdraw its forces from Syria.
“Our position on Syria is clear. We believe that there is no place for any Iranian military presence, anywhere in Syria,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his parliamentary faction on May 28.
Israel has repeatedly accused Iran of destabilizing the situation in the region and its military has carried out strikes on Iranian and Iranian-backed forces in Syria.
Now, when the Syrian Army and its allies are preparing for a military operation against militants in southern Syria, Israeli-Syrian and Israeli-Iranian tensions have grown sky high once again.
Tel Aviv ignores that Iranian forces will not participate in this operation and clearly signals that the defeat of militants in southern Syria is an unwelcomed scenario for Israel.
