On December 12, the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip said that Israeli troops began storming the Kamal Adwan hospital in the north of the enclave. Israeli forces launched assault days after they besieged, shelled and heavily damaged the medical facility.
The hospital is located near Jabalia, which turned into ruins as it has become one of the main battlefields in the last few days.
“The Israeli occupying forces are storming the Kamal Adwan Hospital after a days-long siege and bombing,” said Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesman for the Ministry.

Israeli media claim that evidence has been found in several hospitals in the Palestinian enclave indicating that they were used as headquarters by Hamas. However, the provided evidences raised doubts. According to the Israeli military, the evacuation of the civilian population was previously carried out. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza:
- the Israeli occupation deliberately targeted 137 institutions and put 22 hospitals and 46 primary care centers out of service.
- The health situation in hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip is catastrophic, and medical teams have lost control in the face of the huge numbers of wounded and the lack of therapeutic and clinical capabilities.
- 36 health personnel, led by Dr. Muhammad Abu Salamiya, Director General of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, were arrested in inhumane conditions.
- The Israeli aggression against the health system led to the martyrdom of 296 health personnel and the injury of hundreds of them.
