On February 6, Israeli security forces shot dead a Hamas member in a gunfight in a village near Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli aiuthorities said that the killed, Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, had been the head of a militant cell responsible for an ambush in which a Jewish settler, 32-year-old Rabbi Raziel Shevach, was shot dead. Jarrar was a member of Hamas’ Qassam Brigades.
“We in Hamas receive the news of the martyrdom of this hero, who resisted until his last breath and refused to surrender,” Hamas said in a statement on the incident. “We affirm that he will remain a point of pride for all of Palestine and free resistance fighters.”
Previously, Israeli forces already killed one of the gunmen involved in the attack and captured another.
