On December 14, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) dropped leaflets over the Gaza Strip offering money for information on the whereabouts of Yahya Sinwar and other senior commanders of the ruling Hamas Movement.
Images of the leaflets were posted to social media, showing it promising Gazans $400,000 for information on Hamas’s Gaza leader Sinwar; $300,000 for information on his brother, Muhammed Sinwar, who commands Hamas’ southern brigade; $200,000 for information on Rafaa Salameh, the commander of the movement’s Khan Younis battalion; and a measly $100,000 for information on Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas’s military wing.
The leaflets contain a telephone number and a contact on the Telegram messaging app, with the IDF promising confidentiality.

Separately, the IDF released footage showing some of its recent operations against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in Shejaiya, a suburb of Gaza City, and the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza as well as in the city of Khan Younis in the southern part of the Strip.
The IDF also released footage showing Palestinians surrendering to its troops at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
Troops of the 460th Armored Brigade, working with the Shin Bet security agency, located a building used by Hamas fighters in the area of the hospital, the IDF said, adding that the troops battled and killed fighters near the hospital in several separate encounters.
According to the IDF, some 70 Hamas fighters surrendered to Israeli troops in the area, handing over firearms and equipment. They have been taken to be questioned by the Shin Bet and Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504.

Israel faced much criticism over its war on Gaza in recent days, with an overwhelming majority in the United Nations General Assembly voting in favor of a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Strip.
Despite international pressure, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant met on December 14 with visiting United States National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and told him that the war against Hamas in Gaza will take “more than several months.”
“Hamas is a terrorist organization that built itself over a decade to fight Israel, and they built infrastructure under the ground and above the ground and it is not easy to destroy them. It will require a period of time — it will last more than several months, but we will win and we will destroy them,” Gallant said.
Overall, Israel appears to be determined to go on with its war on Gaza, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 18,000 Palestinians.
