On December 10, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that it had carried out strikes on 250 targets of the Hamas Movement in the Gaza Strip over the past day as troops continue to battle Palestinian fighters on the ground.

The overnight strikes targeted a Hamas compound in Khan Younis and several tunnel shafts in the area, according to the IDF.

The IDF added that ground forces raided Hamas sites in Gaza, finding and destroying what they described as many weapons and tunnel shafts, and killing fighters.

Overnight, the IDF said that a fighter jet directed by troops of the Givati Infantry Brigade struck a Hamas communications site next to a mosque in southern Gaza. After the strike, the Givati troops raided the site.

The elite Egoz unit also struck tunnel shafts in the Khan Younis area using guided munitions over the past day, the IDF said, noting that the unit identified a Hamas cell by drone and eliminated its members.

In Shejaiya in the north, the IDF said that troops of the 188th Armored Brigade raided a Hamas command center, locating weapons used by its fighters, including assault rifles, grenades, anti-tank missile launchers and more equipment.

Separately, more photos of Palestinians detained by the IDF in northern Gaza were posted on social media. The photos were apparently from the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza. The IDF has said it will interrogate all of those who surrender to troops for potential links to Hamas.

From its side, Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said on December 10 that its fighters attacked two gatherings of Israeli troops, a Merkava main battle tank and a sniper in northern Gaza.

As fighting in northern Gaza is heating up again, Israeli troops are yet to capture the city of Khan Yunis in the southern part of the Strip. Despite having superior fire power, the IDF is not advancing as fast as before. Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions are showing fierce resistance and improving their tactics.
