At the late hours of December 8, a unit of the Israeli military advanced towards the edge of the separation line with Lebanon and began a search operation in the area of Krum al-Sharqi. Later, the units, that consists of more than 25 soldiers, fired several warning shots.
“The shooting took place because of the heavy fog in the area and the surprise of the Israeli enemy of detecting a Lebanese army patrol in the Lebanese territory,” the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The Lebanese military deployed an armored unit in the town of Meiss al-Jabal, which faces Krum al-Sharqi, to monitor the situation in the area, according to the Lebanese al-Manar TV correspondent Ali Shoeib.
Earlier, a unit of the Israeli military planted several vibration sensors along the separation line and fired several shots in the air to warn three personnel of the Lebanese military intelligence, who approached the line.
The Israeli military actions near the separation line may spark a military confrontation eventually, especially that Hezbollah has vowed to respond to any violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
