The Israeli military reportedly blocked the last pipe of the water pipeline leading to the Gaza Strip. The enclave was completely cut from water supply. Earlier, electricity was cut off by Israel, which supplied about 88% of the total electricity consumption in the Gaza Strip. The supply of food and basic necessities from Israel were also stopped.
On October 9, the Israeli Defense Ministry claimed that he ordered the complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, explaining that Israel is allegedly “fighting human animals”.
The death toll of Palestinians in the region since the beginning of the escalation has reached 687 victims, including 140 children and 105 women.
Meanwhile, the so-called international community (read ‘the West’) expressed its full support to Tel Aviv. The UN dared to slightly criticise Israeli warfare. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed serious concern about the statement of the Israeli authorities about the complete blockade of the Gaza Strip. He also called to allow access for the humanitarian organization there.
Compare the reaction of the ‘blooming Western garden’ to the indiscriminate strikes on civilians and violation of the basic human rights in the Gaza Strip and the Russian military operations in Ukraine, where not a single attack on Ukrainian civilians was ever confirmed. In its turn, Kiev cut off water and electricity supply to the Crimean peninsula in 2014.
