On March 27, ISIS news agency, Amaq, released horrific footage showing the execution of an alleged spy of the Egyptian military in the Sinai Peninsula.
The victim identifies himself in the footage as Ahmad Mustafa Nassir from the town of al-Tawil to the southwest of Sheikh Zuweid city in northern Sinai. The victim claims that he informed the Egyptian military about the positions of several improvised explosive devices which had been planted by ISIS terrorists.
The terrorists executed the middle-aged man by slitting his throat. The horrendous execution took place in an unspecified part of Sinai desert.
ISIS cells have been carrying out executions in Sinai since the beginning of their insurgency in the peninsula some eight years ago.
In February, Amaq released footage showing the execution of a man who allegedly spied on the terrorist group’s cells in the Sinai Peninsula for the Egyptian military.
ISIS relies on publicized executions to terrorize and subdue people living in its areas of influence. The terrorist group’s cells in Saini have been trying to ramp up their operations in the Peninsula for the last two years. The close relation between the Egyptian military and Sinai locals has been one of their main problems.
