On January 7, ISIS fighters attacked three positions of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the village of al-Kishkiyah located north of the town of Hajin in southeastern Deir Ezzor, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
Amaq said that seven fighters of the SDF were killed in the attack. Moreover, Amaq reported that ISIS snipers killed two fighters of the SDF in al-Kishkiyah.
Also north of Hajin town, ISIS fighters attacked several positions of the SDF in the village of al-Bahra and killed five members of the US-backed force, according to Amaq. The ISIS-linked news agency added that four other SDF fighters were killed after their position in al-Bahra was hit with a rocket fried by ISIS.
Amaq also said that ISIS fighters shelled the SDF positions in the villages of al-Bahrah and al-Kishkiyah with dozens of mortars.
Meanwhile, Syrian opposition sources claimed that SDF fighters entered the village of Abu Hamam north of Hajin. However, the SDF didn’t confirm these claims.
Last month, the US-backed force entered Abu Hamam, Gharanij and even Hajin for several times. However, SDF fighters withdrew from these areas each time within hours because of ISIS counter-attacks.
