ISIS cells in Iraq continue to launch attacks against government forces and local pro-government factions in different parts of the country.
On July 8, ISIS terrorists launched a Grad 122 mm rocket at al-Sayniyah oil refinery in the northern province of Saladin. No losses were reported as a result of the attack.
On July 12, the terrorists shot down a quadcopter drone of the Iraqi Federal Police near the town of al-Mahdiyah in the northern province of Kirkuk. ISIS news agency, Amaq, shared footage of the drone wreckage.
On July 14, ISIS terrorists burned down four trucks in al-Kasrah in the western province of al-Anbar. Two of the trucks were owned by an officer in the Iraqi Police, while the other two were owned by fighters in the pro-government Tribal Mobilization Forces.
ISIS has been very active in the northern and western parts of Iraq. The terrorist group’s cells carry out attacks in these regions on a regular basis.
Iraqi government forces have been stepping up their operation against ISIS. Nevertheless, very little is being achieved. The terrorist group is deeply entrenched in some parts of Iraq especially in its historical stronghold, al-Anbar.
